Elections watchdog reveals it was hit by cyber attack

Britain's elections watchdog has revealed it was the unfortunate of a "complex cyber-attack" archetypal identified successful October past year.

The Electoral Commission said unspecified "hostile actors" had managed to summation entree to copies of the electoral registers.

The onslaught enabled hackers to entree its emails and "control systems" from August 2021, it added.

The watchdog said it was hard to cognize precisely what files were accessed.
