Indian agency accuses Samsung of $212 mln customs duty evasion-ET - Reuters India

BENGALURU, Jan 12 (Reuters) - An Indian authorities bureau has accused the section portion of South Korea's Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) of evading import taxes worthy 17.28 cardinal rupees ($212 million) by misclassifying a product, the Economic Times reported connected Thursday.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) said Samsung India Electronics Ltd misclassified networking devices called distant vigor heads to avail undue exemption of basal customs duty, the Economic Times reported.

The bureau sent Samsung India and PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt Ltd (PwC), which was hired to classify the web equipment, a amusement origin notice, the study said.

Samsung, PwC and India's concern ministry did not instantly respond to Reuters' petition for comment. ($1 = 81.6300 Indian rupees)
