Over the sea to Skye on the world’s last turntable ferry

The MV Glenachulish is the world’s past manually-operated turntable ferry.

Its unsocial plan allows it to navigate the challenging tidal conditions of the Kylerhea Narrows betwixt the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Skye.

Up to six cars tin beryllium transported connected the Glenachulish's deck, which the unit rotate by manus erstwhile it reaches its slipway.

The vas - which is much than 50 years aged - was saved successful 2007 erstwhile it was bought by the section assemblage aft its semipermanent skipper retired.
