Transparency subcommittee discusses recommendations for Board of Medicine
AND MISCONDUCT. A SUBCOMMITTEE REVIEWING TRANSPARENCY AND REPORTING BY THE BOARD OF MEDICINE PRESENTED A LIST OF RECOMMENDED CHANGES TO THE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES. MEMBERS OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE HAVE BEEN GATHERING FROM THE PUBLIC AND OFFICIALS AND HAVE INVESTIGATED HOW ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT AND MALPRACTICE ARE HANDLED. SOME OF THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE TIGHTENING REPORTING REQUIREMENTS TO MAKE SURE. THE BOARD HAS ALL OF THE ACCESS AND RESOURCES IT NEEDS TO CONDUCT THOROUGH INVESTIGATIONS. THE BOARD OF MEDICINE INDICATES US THAT THOSE DON’T ALWAYS ON THEIR DESK. WE NEED TO BE CERTAIN THAT THAT’S NOT THE CASE AND THAT THERE IS SMOOTH FLOW OF INFORMATION FROM HOSPITALS FROM ANYBODY WHO EMPLOYS PHYSICIANS TO. THE BOARD OF MEDICINE. THE BOARD OF MEDICINE, UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF THE OFFICE OF LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION, WHICH IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE STATE SENATE ON A SIMILAR REVIEW. WE’VE BEEN ATTENDING THE COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND PROVIDING THE INFORMATION THAT WE’RE ABLE TO PROVIDE ALL WITH THE SAME GOAL, WHICH TO INCREASE TRANSPARENCY WITHIN THE LAW. SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIRMAN MARK PIERSON SAYS THIS HAS ALL BEEN A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT AND THERE WILL LIKELY BE MORE CHANGES AHEAD. JUST A FEW TWEAKS, A FEW CHANGES. THERE WERE SOME TODAY. THERE’LL BE ON MONDAY, BUT IT’S INCREMENTAL, SLOW AND CAREFUL. WANT TO GET IT RIGHT HAND, HAND OR CORNER REPORTING THERE AND SUBCOMMITTEE WILL MEET AGAIN ON
